4TH JUNE TO 6TH JUNE... the most memorable days of my life so far as a jc student.. and the best camp i have ever been to... ever... CAMP ASPIRE WAS TIRING... ENDURING... PAINFUL... SMELLY... WATER-LESS... BUUTTTT IT WS ALSO GREAT FUN... JOY... LAUGHTER... it was just simply great... all the good outweighed the bad in the end.. i made alot of new friends... learnt alot of new life lessons.. had great fun joy and laughter.. beacause group 10 made it possible...i think i had the best group there ever could be in the camp...
4TH JUNE!
was when we started the camp in the morning at 7am in the hall... everyone was a little groggy and sleepy but all of us were ready for the worst...true enough... cos we didnt settle down fast enough.. mr yong pumped us for round 10 mins.. and got it into our head that we were in a leadership camp and not some holiday... we got our tags and had to find our groups with the same coloured landyards and nametags... our group got together really fast and we sat down first... irwin and i both shouting "orange!.. orange!" at the top of our voices x))...
first activity was quite a joke.. cos we had to do this scavanger hunt to break the ice in our groups... our group did well in splitting up and going our seperate ways some finding the items the others coordinating at the hall... me irwin and satish went finding for a one cent coin which we thought was the hardest to find... so we walked all around school and finally snatched the one cent coin from the auntie at uncle henry's shop.. we sprinted back cos alot of grps wanted to snatch the coin from us... and me and irwin stumbled on each others foot and fell... x))... we sprinted all the way back only to realize that they had 3 one cent coins there already.. -.-... all the hard work for nothing... lol..
then the next activity was the traffic jam game... which our group totally owned... we did it in our record time of 25 seconds in the "championship" finals between our grp and grp 1... GROUP 10 PREVAILED WINNERS!!... woohoooo... we cheered and encouraged each other on to win... and it seriously was great fun... =))...
then we had to plan for the for the kayaking trip to pulau ubin the next day before heading off for the amazing race with mr raymond andrews(our teacher in chrage)...
the amazing race was also another fun experience.. even thought they claimed it was gonna be all around singapore... it was actually all around the town area...we had to go to the esplanade... the singapore flyer which i thought was super cool... boat quay... citylink... marina square... suntec..the padang... one fullerton.. we basically had to chiong all around central district... the best challenge i will never forget is of course the entanglement challenge... our whole group of 22 people had to entagle ourselves together and untangle oursleves... even though we tried 3 times over.. and at last had 3 seperate circles.. we did really well!! despite all of us being all shagged and tired...and wanting food!!.. x))we had only 1 more station left and we barely made it for the last one at boat quay after dinner...
then we left back for school and bathed changed and plomped on our sleeping bags int a deep deep sleep...
5TH JUNE!!
we headed off to pulau ubin that day!...woke up at 6.00..had abit of a heavy breakfast and our group was supposed to kayak to pulau ubin... but there was a change of plans and we had to take a ferry there instead of kayak.. being the kiasu group that we were...we bought 3 5.5 litre water bottles.. and 4 extre 1.5 litre water bottles... not counting the ones we each had as well... played a lot of retarded games on the way there... (ohh and i finally know the trick to the mehmeh game! x)).. meng xiu seriously very slow.. whatever game we paly she'll be there stoning away... 10 minuted later then she'll come up to us and say.."ohhh i get it already!".. lol...i still dont get irwins bang-bang who die game..
fun aside.. we reached there and had to walk about 2 km to the tent site.. pitched the tents and headed off to the land expedition.. which was from one side of pulau ubin to the other and back again.. which means our group walked- runned about 20 plus km that day... tiring stuff man.. but our group pulled through really well because we had a great ic in soon hock who really encouragd us alot.. and we were a really strong and enthusiatic grp... (all except for the chess club vice.. ken..)we encourged each other all the way for the 8 stations we went to.. and we emerged second group~!!!.. the stations were really fun... the highlight being the one wher ewe had to draw the body parts from a bag.. and place the body part with the person next to you..i got cheek and the person beside me had mouth.. imagine man... freaking sick..x)).. 2 check points we had to rely on our maths induction skills to solve a soduko like puzzle.. another station which was great fun was the one where we had to unhusk a whole coconut... me ben irwin rex satish all violently trying to smash the coconut onto anything sharp we can get our hands on... and the girls were there trying to encourage us.. lol..
our enthusiasticness really got the group far i tell you.. and also the station masters really impressed.. and the other groups really scared.. cos we were that high and loud...!!.. our combination of people really brought out the best in all of us and we shone really bright as a group.. of cos our trademark SUPERHUMAN CHEER brought us far as well...
after that day i realized on thing.. that guys may be stronger physically.. but girls are seriously high all the way... guys can neve match that.. when we're all shagged and tired... the girls in our group brought all of us through the last few stations.. esp tricia ( aka crazy woman x)).. jubi( ex grp ic)... meng xiu..janice.. all of them high even though the rest of us looked so shagged.. x))
after the amazing ubin race.. we had to go back to the tent sites only to find that the site was untentable!!!... but we were given time to assemble and cook our stuff. which was only raw fish corn eggs tapioca... we had a "great" meal... to be honest janice really cooked the corn well!=))... the guys.. namely me soon hock and yuan chung were peeling off the egg shells.. while the rest busy cooking... it was an experience seriously.. cos we didnt know how to cook the huge raw fish.. we left it on the banane leaf on top of the fire.. the banana leaf ended up burning and the fish not really cooking...so we had to eat boiled fish and partially cooked fish which actuallytasted great!!.. maybe cos we were hungry or something...
then we had to unpitch out tents and shift to anther tent site 2 km away T-T... the hard work... we were in quite a state of panic then to be honest.. everyone shouting and barking orders here and there... one group had to carry one kayak.. scolding from the teacher... it was chaos... no one really knew who the leader was... but we left off in the end.. me irwin jonas satish and ben carrying the huge two man kayak.. after that my shoulder really ached...
we had campfire after that.. shagged and tired bunch of us... trying to get high... sang some campfire songs.. had a skit by the counsellors... and the highlight of it all .. was of cos the danceoff performance by the teachers!!.. didnt know the teachers had the rythm in them.. lol...ahmin was really rocking the stage.. the music was grooving the atmosphere was high!!.. another highlight was the model fashion show thing where our group sent a half naked ben... and a gay looking irwin.. super funny i tell you.. irwin is seriously a good actor...his gay antics fuunnyyy...
gathered as a group after that.. played some games got to know each other better .. and me and satish decided to plomp in our tent and sleep.. and we seirously fell into a deep tiring sleep... WHAT A FUN FUN FUN.. BUT TIRING DAY! =)
6TH JUNE!!!!
LAST DAY OF CAMP... THE DAYS PAST BY SO FAST... FAST AND FURIOUS IT SEEMED.. OUR GROUP DIDNT WANT IT TO END TO BE HONEST...
we had to kayak from pulau ubin back to civilisation!!!... away from the yellow water... away from the grass and nature.. and back to singapore!!.. we were seirously phsyced to kayak there..
and so we took off our kayaks at around 9 to head to the island where we had to do our capsize drills... me and my partner had to settle for a close top kayak which was super unstable... she wanted to give up at first.. but i persuaded her to go on.. and we had alot of fun in the end..we kept getting swept away by the waves to the right when we intended to go straight.. but we got the hang of it and paddled really well in the end... i got trapped under the boat again for the drill.. x)).. but second time i finally got back up.. =))... then we had to kayak 3km!! to the shores of pasir ris... we had to paddle across this channel where all the big boats and speed boats were.. so we couldnt stop... and had to chiong all the way... my arms suffered but we didnt give up and completed paddling the channel!!..then we had to raft up together and the last person in the kayak had to stand up...and sing a birthday song for mr tan.. scary cos the boat was so unstable... then we could freely kayak... and me and jonas decided to try to capsize tricia but she got stuck half way.. wasted.. x))..
then we finally reahced shore.. washed up... ate some ice cream.. thanks mr tan!!...bus-ed back to school... =))when we reached school we had to wash our equipment.. and then makan-ed before me irwin satish and rex went to the third floor to take a long long bath... its times like this when you reflect and really thank the Lord for singapore... cos pulau ubin was really an experience... the water there... the kampong life isnt really for us i guess... the clean water in the taps of singapore rock!!!.. we had to change into our camp aspire t shirt.. proudly walking around with the aspire shirt.. class leader on the sleeve ok...x))..
then we had this special video presentation on camp aspire and the things we did.. i thought the IT guys did a great job on the video.... =))... it really made me want this camp to be longer.. cos the memories forged were simply great i tell you.. i'll never forget this camp and the friendships i made with my group 10 team mates...
had a prize presentation before we were handed cool badges with our names and the positions we hold.. then it ended off with mr tans speech.. my group stayed back for a last SUPERHUMAN CHEER!!.. which really took my voice off for half an hour... x)).. and then some photos to keep in memory of... =) GROUP 10 BOLEH!!. THE BEST GROUP IN CAMP ASPIRE WITHOUT DOUBT!!.. =)
ILL FOREVER REMEMBER YOU GUYS GROUP 10... =)
this camp really impacted me... big time... changed me... made new friends.. exerienced alot of new things... photos will be up soon.. if i get them from my team mates.. =))
